My gym is equipped with dumbbells, overhead cables, TRX straps, resistance bands, exercise balls, floor mats and a cycle. With these simple pieces of equipment we can work each muscle group in almost unlimited variations and actually have fun doing it. Using this equipment does require skill, and that's where a trainer comes into play. There is no requirement to use my facility. I can meet you at your home, and in some cases, your gym.
Most regimens are a combination of cardio and resistance training along with dietary guidelines. The prescription will depend on your needs and goals. Many clients add their own cardio workouts because let's face it, you don't need a trainer to show you how to walk, run, bike or swim. Your presciption will include specific guidlines for the length and intensity of your regimens.
What does O2O mean?
There are two important concepts in fitness training:
Oxygen and Overload.
When you are fit, you process oxygen more efficiently with less stress on your heart and lungs. Maintaining this condition is the key to good health.
During strength training, the goal is to achieve overload. The best results happen when you reach failure on most sets. The process of creating microtears causes your body to build more muscle and that's how you achieve tone or get ripped if that's your goal.
Why Machines are not a part of my training!
The exercise machines you see in gyms do serve a purpose. They allow for unsupervised training because using them does not require skill. The trouble with machines is that you're doing the same thing day in and day out. Your body adapts and fails to respond which in turn results in getting stuck with diminishing returns. My system has unlimited variations so each training session is a unique challenge.
